One setting. It restricts which categories can be drawn and screens the questions inside them — and it tightens the name filter at the same time, because a clean question next to a crude team name is not a clean event.

Split into teams

Two to twelve. People pick a team as they join, or you balance them automatically — which is the version you want when the point is getting departments mixed together.

Everyone joins the same room

One room code, entered from a phone or a laptop. It works the same whether the team is around one table or spread across a video call with the screen shared.

What Workplace-Safe actually does

Most “office-friendly” question packs are a promise. This is a mechanism, and it is worth knowing how it fails.

It fails closed. Every category in the library carries an explicit verdict: vetted for a workplace event, or not. A category nobody has reviewed yet counts as not safe and simply sits out. New content cannot quietly turn up at your event by default.

Vetted per category, not per theme. Safety and subject are different axes — a film category holds both Toy Story and Quentin Tarantino. Vetting by theme would be too coarse and too generous at once, so every category name is judged on its own.

Names are covered too. Workplace-Safe forces display names and team names to the strict filter. The question pool and the things people type at each other are the same problem wearing two hats.

What it leaves out. Alcohol and gambling, true crime, sexual content, hard profanity, drugs, graphic violence, horror, health and pregnancy, partisan politics and religious doctrine. Forty-eight categories are excluded outright rather than filtered question by question.

You do not run short. A full event needs on the order of seventy-five questions. The vetted pool is about 67,000 across 485 categories — roughly 92% of the library — so the filter can afford to be aggressive without the night thinning out.

Per event, if you want. The setting lives on your account, and a scheduled night can override it either way — so the team offsite and the end-of-year party do not have to share one policy.

Can people join remotely?

Yes. A hosted night is not location-locked — anyone with the room code can play, so a hybrid team joins the same game from wherever they are. Share the host screen on the call and the remote half sees exactly what the room sees.

Does anyone need an account?

No. People join with a nickname and play. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for, which matters when you are asking a whole department to join in the next ninety seconds.

How long does it take?

You choose. You set the number of rounds, the questions per round, and the seconds on the clock — so it can be a twenty-minute warm-up or a full evening.

Can we write questions about our own company?

Yes, on Pro. An Emcee round lets the host read their own questions aloud and judge the answers by hand — which is how you run the “who joined first” round — or you can import a written set as JSON.
