Do I need to install anything?

No. Trivia Fun runs entirely in the browser — for hosts, players, and the TV. Players scan a QR code and they're in the game in seconds. No app stores, no downloads, no updates to push.

Can patrons play without an account?

Yes. Guest mode lets anyone jump in with just a nickname. If they want scores tracked across nights — for the monthly leaderboard and regulars stats — they can create a free account in about ten seconds. Either way, the venue pays nothing per player.

What if my host's tab crashes mid-game?

Auto-reconnect. The game state is snapshotted continuously, so if the host's browser tab dies, the laptop sleeps, or the wifi blips, the host just reopens the page and picks up exactly where you left off. Players see a "host reconnecting" countdown and don't lose their scores.

Can trivia night run without a host?

Yes. On any paid plan you can put Game Nights on a weekly schedule: the lobby opens ahead of start time, the game kicks off on its own (players vote each round's category, or it replays a night you've saved), and it wraps up with the final leaderboard at the time you set. Your TVs just stay on the TV screen — and a host can still jump in anytime to steer.

Can patrons play if they're not at the bar?

Up to you. Open Play has optional geofencing — turn it on and players can only join if they're physically at the venue. Turn it off and they can play from anywhere. Hosted Game Nights aren't geofenced (you control who joins by sharing the QR code on the TV).

How many players can a room handle?

100 per room, stress-tested at the cap. In a 100-player room we measured a 28 ms p99 on question broadcast — well inside the 50 ms line we alert on. If you're running a packed night with more than 100 players, get in touch — we can split into multiple rooms.

How does billing work?

Plans are billed through Stripe — monthly, or annually for 2 months free — straight from your venue dashboard, and you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime, no contracts.

Paid plans renew automatically at the price above — every month for monthly, every year for annual — until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep the plan until the period you have already paid for runs out. You can cancel from the venue dashboard at any time, and the Event Pass below does not renew at all.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. The Starter plan is always free. You can run a weekly trivia night without ever paying. Workplace-Safe mode is on the free plan too. Pro unlocks the extras — unlimited nights, scheduled hostless nights, Emcee rounds, Open Play, regulars tracking, and TV ads.

Do players pay anything?

Never. Players just scan a QR code and play. No accounts, no app downloads, no fees. Ever.

What counts as a "Game Night"?

One hosted session. It can be 1 round or 10 — as long as it's a single event, it counts as one night.

What if I run trivia at more than one location?

Under 10 locations, run Pro at each one. Every venue gets the full Pro feature set and its own room code, and you can link them into one group — so you also get a leaderboard that spans all your locations, at no extra cost. Add or drop a location whenever you like.

At 10 locations or more, that's the Groups plan: everything in Pro everywhere, billed as a single account on one invoice instead of one per location, plus a dedicated account manager and per-location pricing that scales with your count. Email hello@trivia-fun.com and we'll put a quote together.

I'm running one event, not a weekly trivia night.

Then you probably want the Event Pass: $299 once, or $749 for three. It gives you everything Pro does — your logo on the TV, your own imported round, no "Powered by Trivia Fun" in front of your guests, no one-night-a-week cap — for a seven-day window that you start yourself. Buy it months ahead and the clock doesn't move until you're ready.

It costs more than a single month of Pro, and that's the trade: Pro at $149 cancelled after your event is cheaper, if you'll remember to cancel. The pass has no subscription behind it, so there's nothing to forget. Fundraisers and holiday parties are the usual reasons.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Monthly plans, no contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancelling stops the automatic renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
