Questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. Trivia Fun runs entirely in the browser — for hosts, players, and the TV. Players scan a QR code and they're in the game in seconds. No app stores, no downloads, no updates to push.
Can patrons play without an account?
Yes. Guest mode lets anyone jump in with just a nickname. If they want scores tracked across nights — for the monthly leaderboard and regulars stats — they can create a free account in about ten seconds. Either way, the venue pays nothing per player.
What if my host's tab crashes mid-game?
Auto-reconnect. The game state is snapshotted continuously, so if the host's browser tab dies, the laptop sleeps, or the wifi blips, the host just reopens the page and picks up exactly where you left off. Players see a "host reconnecting" countdown and don't lose their scores.
Can patrons play if they're not at the bar?
Up to you. Open Play has optional geofencing — turn it on and players can only join if they're physically at the venue. Turn it off and they can play from anywhere. Hosted Game Nights aren't geofenced (you control who joins by sharing the QR code on the TV).
How many players can a room handle?
100 per room, stress-tested at the cap. We've measured broadcast latency at sub-30ms with all 100 players answering simultaneously. If you're running a packed night with more than 100 players, get in touch — we can split into multiple rooms.
When does pricing start?
Trivia Fun is free during the beta. When we launch paid plans, everyone on the Pro waitlist locks in the early-bird rate of $45/mo (instead of $55/mo) — forever. You'll get an email a week before billing turns on.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. The Starter plan is always free. You can run a weekly trivia night without ever paying. Pro and Premium unlock extras like unlimited nights, regulars tracking, and TV ads.
Do players pay anything?
Never. Players just scan a QR code and play. No accounts, no app downloads, no fees. Ever.
What counts as a "Game Night"?
One hosted session. It can be 1 round or 10 — as long as it's a single event, it counts as one night.
What happens if I run more than 5 venues on Premium?
If you're running 6+ locations, you want the Custom plan. It includes unlimited venues, a dedicated account manager, and custom onboarding. Email hello@trivia-fun.com and we'll set you up.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans, no contracts, no cancellation fees. You keep access until the end of your billing period.
Do you offer annual pricing?
